To guarantee a smooth and secure election process, the FRSC has deployed 1,500 personnel and logistics vehicles across Anambra State for the November 8 governorship election.

The disclosure was made by Margaret Onabe, FRSC’s Sector Public Education Officer for Anambra Command, in a statement released in Awka on Friday.

According to her, the deployment was sanctioned by Corps Marshal Shehu Muhammad to uphold the FRSC’s commitment to peace and order during the polls.

Onabe said the Corps Marshal was represented in Anambra by Assistant Corps Marshal S.T. Agure, who inspected preparations and addressed personnel ahead of the exercise.

According to her, the deployment aims to facilitate the free flow of electoral materials and restrict unauthorized vehicular movement into the state from midnight on Friday.

She explained that the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, briefed the visiting officer on the activities leading up to the election — including INEC training sessions, inter-agency security meetings, signing of the peace accord by candidates, and certification of vehicles designated for election duty.

“Additional personnel and logistics vehicles have been drawn from neighboring states including Edo, Delta, Imo, and Enugu,” Onabe stated.

“FRSC will also collaborate with other security agencies to enforce the restriction of movement into Anambra from 12:00 midnight on Friday.”

She added that a strategy had been developed to ensure the unhindered movement of electoral materials, while FRSC staff would be stationed in the situation room alongside other security operatives to monitor and respond to any emergencies.

While addressing the personnel, Agure conveyed the Corps Marshal’s goodwill message, urging officers to remain professional, courteous, and easily identifiable by proper dressing. He warned against any misconduct that could tarnish the image of the Corps and emphasized synergy with other security agencies.

Agure also distributed booklets titled “Code of Conduct & Rules of Engagement for Security Personnel on Electoral Duty” to guide officers on appropriate behavior during the election.

The FRSC Anambra Command reaffirmed its commitment to supporting a safe, secure, and peaceful electoral process and urged the public to promptly report any emergencies or suspicious activities to the nearest FRSC unit or command center.
