Nollywood actress, Bamike Adenibuyan, popularly known as BamBam has opened up about the challenges ex-Big Brother Naija housemates face in the acting industry, stating that some producers are hesitant to cast them due to concerns about their delivery.
However, BamBam credits the YouTube platform for providing her with an opportunity to showcase her talent beyond her reality TV persona, helping her overcome industry obstacles.
“I have heard stories that they don’t like casting ex–Big Brother Naija housemates because they don’t trust their delivery. But thank God for the YouTube platform; it has given me an opportunity to showcase my talent beyond being an ex-reality TV participant,” she told Saturday Beats.
Despite this perception, BamBam said she remains committed to proving her depth and versatility as an actor, adding that digital platforms have created room for her to display her skills and connect with audiences outside the confines of reality TV fame.
The former reality star also revealed that she deliberately avoids taking on deeply spiritual or diabolical roles, especially when she does not feel mentally or spiritually prepared.
“I am a very sensitive actor. I try to avoid deeply spiritual films, especially when I’m not sure or spiritually ready for them,” she said.
Beyond her reservations, BamBam noted that acting requires intense preparation long before stepping onto a set.
She emphasised the importance of understanding the emotional background and motivations of any character she portrays.
“When you get a script, you step into the role of that character. I got to understand Chioma’s personality and added a part of me to make her real. Acting is about understanding where your character is coming from so you can react as they would,” the actress said.
