President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to Nigerians, using the occasion to underscore the importance of unity, peace, and religious tolerance as essential values for the country’s progress and stability.
In his 2025 Christmas goodwill message, Tinubu wished all Christians in Nigeria and around the world a Merry Christmas, while also acknowledging the significance of Jesus Christ’s birth and message of salvation.
The President expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the leader of Nigeria, and prayed for peace in the country, especially among individuals of differing religious beliefs. He reaffirmed his commitment to enshrining religious freedom in Nigeria and protecting all people of different faiths from violence.
Tinubu highlighted the contributions of Christians in Nigeria, noting that their love and message of the Gospel have inspired many to care for the vulnerable and less privileged in society. He honored those who work tirelessly to promote peace, harmony, and tolerance in their communities, saying, “The love of Christ and the message of the Gospel have inspired many Christians to care for the vulnerable and less privileged in our society.”
The President also emphasized the importance of respecting the rights of all Nigerians to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity, regardless of ethnicity or belief. He stated, “All Nigerians have the right to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity. No one, regardless of ethnicity or belief, should be made to suffer for professing and practising his faith.”
Tinubu noted that he has been engaging with prominent leaders from the two major faiths in the country to address concerns about religious intolerance and insecurity. He pledged to build on these conversations to strengthen collaboration between government and religious institutions, prevent conflict, and promote peaceful coexistence.
As Nigerians travel to reunite with family and loved ones during the holiday period, Tinubu urged citizens to exercise patience and maintain discipline on the roads, wishing all travellers a safe journey and a safe return to their destinations.
The President expressed confidence in divine providence and Nigeria’s collective strength, saying, “With confidence in divine providence and our collective strength, we will continue the work of building a greater Nigeria-one that future generations will be proud of.”
Tinubu concluded by wishing all Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance, saying, “I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.”
