The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that a former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon Moruf Musa, was abducted at Ibiade, Ogunwaterside Local Government Area.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, said the Command is aware of the former lawmaker’s abduction on Tuesday night.
He added that security measures have been put in place to ensure the former lawmaker’s safety and secure his return.
Babaseyi said, “The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the reported abduction of Hon. Musa Moruf in Ibiade, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
“Security measures have been activated, including the deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the public is advised to remain calm pending official updates.”
Musa was reportedly kidnapped at around 7:00 pm while observing Muslim prayers inside a mosque within his compound, according to a reliable source who spoke to Tribune.
The victim reportedly put up a struggle, fighting off his abductors for over 20 minutes, a commotion that drew the attention of nearby community members.
The kidnappers allegedly fired shots into the air sporadically, creating panic as they made their getaway from the scene.
An unconfirmed report had it that some residents sustained gun injuries while trying to prevent the hoodlums from taking the ex-lawmaker away.
They were said to have escaped into a nearby bush.
