A Sagamu Magistrate Court in Ogun State has adjourned the case against Kayode Adeniyi, the 47-year-old driver of the Lexus SUV involved in a fatal crash that killed two of Anthony Joshua’s friends, to January 20, 2026.

Adeniyi, a long-time member of Joshua’s Nigerian logistics team, was arraigned on charges of manslaughter, reckless driving, and others.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had blamed the driver for overspeeding and wrongful overtaking, which led to the crash into a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, in a statement on Friday, noted that Adeniyi was driving over the 65mph speed limit when he lost control after a tyre burst during an overtaking manoeuvre near Danco.

The Lexus, carrying Joshua and two of his training staff, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele, smashed into a parked truck.

Babaseyi said, “Update: The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026.”

Adeniyi was discharged from the hospital in Lagos on New Year’s Eve and driven to Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, where the fatal crash occurred.

Since the incident, Anthony Joshua has not made a public statement concerning the death of his associates.
