Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on the government to prioritise the welfare of military personnel and their families as Nigeria commemorates Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
In a statement on his X account on Thursday, Obi expressed gratitude to fallen military heroes, veterans, and active service members, saying their sacrifices for the country’s peace and security will never be forgotten.
“Today, we honor our fallen military heroes, veterans, and active service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” Obi said. “I urge the government to ensure access to quality healthcare and education for military families to inspire greater commitment and reinforce their dedication to building a safer Nigeria.”
Obi praised the bravery of active-duty personnel battling insecurity across the country, saying, “Your sacrifices are deeply appreciated.”
He reaffirmed his vision for a better Nigeria, saying, “A New Nigeria is POssible.”
