Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from police custody after a week in detention.
He appeared in court in Ogun State, where he announced his adoption of the name “Innocenty”.
A video circulating online shows Portable being welcomed back by associates after his release from custody.
The singer appeared in good spirits as he addressed those present and announced that he had adopted the new name “Innocenty.”
Adding to the development, Portable’s manager, Baby Luv, shared a photo of the singer with his first wife, Bewaji, on Instagram.
In her post, she expressed gratitude and praised Bewaji for standing by the singer during his legal challenges.
She wrote, “All glory to God. Grace spoke, mercy prevailed. #Freedom. She stayed when it was hardest. God honoured her faith #Thankful.”
The singer was arraigned on January 12 before a court in Ota, Ogun State, on multiple charges, including assault, theft, causing harm and resisting arrest.
He was also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million. The court did not grant him bail at the sitting, reportedly due to the absence of the police officer handling the case.
