The Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has contributed N100 million towards the procurement of President Bola Tinubu’s nomination form for the 2027 presidential election.
The cheque was handed over to Governor Ahmed Ododo on Sunday at a Youth Endorsement Rally at Muhammadu Buhari Square, Lokoja.
Presenting the cheque, President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Babangida Onimisi, said the gesture was a clear demonstration of the youths’ endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term in office.
He said the decision was informed by the need to consolidate what he described as the solid foundation laid by the President for national development.
According to him, Tinubu’s leadership has been “purposeful and impactful,” with visible results across different parts of the country.
“Your Excellency, the ₦100 million cheque we are presenting today is for the purchase of the presidential nomination form for our President.
“We want to continue with Tinubu’s promising journey for the good of all Nigerians. Our votes are for Tinubu in 2027,” Onimisi declared on behalf of Kogi APC youths.
He also commended Governor Ododo for what he described as notable developmental strides recorded in Kogi State within his first two years in office, assuring him of youth support for a second term in 2028.
In his remarks, the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, described President Tinubu and Governor Ododo as outstanding leaders of the present generation, noting that their policies and programmes have positively impacted youths, students, and grassroots communities.
Similarly, the Kogi APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, said President Tinubu would be remembered for transforming Nigeria’s economy, while Governor Ododo would be remembered for leading the state with humility, a quality he said has driven growth and development.
Bello praised the youths for what he described as their bold and visionary endorsement of both leaders for second terms in office.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Monday Anyebe, said the task before Nigerian youths was too critical for what he termed ego-driven politics.
“We must work together for the re-election of President Tinubu and the continued success of Governor Ododo, whose leadership remains a beacon of stability and progress in Kogi State,” Anyebe said.
Responding, Governor Ododo thanked the youths for the donation, describing the move as a strong message of confidence in the President’s leadership.
“What you have done today is to tell the President clearly that the 2027 election will not just be a contest between political parties, but between vision and empty rhetoric; between courage and timidity; between progress and retrogression,” he said.
According to him, President Tinubu’s mandate aligns with the aspirations of Nigerian youths, stressing that every effort to ensure his success was aimed at securing a better future for the younger generation.
“We will not fail our generation. We are doing this together for the greatness of Kogi State and Nigeria,” Ododo added.
The rally attracted APC youths from the 21 local government areas of the state, who turned out in large numbers to endorse the President and the governor.
