Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has lost his mother, Mrs Sarah Chukwueze.

Though the footballer has not confirmed it, the news was shared by his brother, David Chukwueze, via emotional Instagram posts where he paid tribute to their late mother.

According to the posts, the family is struggling to come to terms with the loss.

In one post, David wrote, “Can’t even post your picture to say RIP mum.”

In another, he said, “My forever love just left me without saying goodbye.”

He also noted, “You didn’t even carry your grandchild.”

Details surrounding her illness have not disclosed.

Chukwueze, who featured for the Super Eagles at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria finished third, has yet to issue a public statement on the loss.

The development comes just two days after Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi lost his father, Sunday Ndidi, in a road accident in Delta State.

The retired military officer was reportedly involved in an accident in Umunede, Delta State, and was confirmed dead after being rushed to a hospital in Agbor, also in the state.

Ndidi’s club, Besiktas, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident,” the club said in a statement released via their official X account.
