Driver nabbed after Dangote truck injures three on Lagos-Badagry Expressway

The Lagos State Government is responding to a serious head-on collision between a Dangote articulated truck and a commercial bus on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, leaving three passengers critically injured.

The incident occurred at Mosafejo–Aradagun when the truck driver attempted an unauthorised U-turn and collided with the oncoming bus.

In a statement on Tuesday, Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, said, “The Lagos State Government has received with deep concern reports of a serious road traffic collision… involving a Dangote articulated truck and a commercial Mazda bus with registration number FST 946 YK.”

Taofiq explained that LASTMA and FRSC personnel quickly responded to the scene, rescuing the injured passengers and conveying them to the hospital for medical attention.

“Through a swift and well-coordinated emergency intervention, all three critically injured victims were successfully rescued from the scene and immediately conveyed to the General Hospital by FRSC officials for urgent and comprehensive medical attention,” the statement added.

The truck driver was apprehended by LASTMA, and the vehicles were evacuated to prevent secondary accidents.

Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, expressed sympathy for the victims and emphasized the need for truck operators to follow traffic regulations.

“The Lagos State Government reiterates its unwavering commitment to the preservation of lives and property across all State roadways through proactive enforcement, strategic traffic control measures and sustained public enlightenment initiatives,” Giwa stated.
