The Lagos State Government intensified enforcement efforts, carrying out multiple clean-up operations across major areas of the state on Thursday.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, showing clean-up operations targeting areas where traders had occupied roads, blocking traffic and threatening public safety.

“Our Environmental Task Force intervened at Ogudu Road by Ojota Junction, Iyana-Ipaja Under Bridge, and Egbeda Junction, where traders had encroached on the road, obstructing traffic and compromising public safety. During the operations, goods and wares were seized, and 15 offenders were arrested,” Wahab said.

All suspects will appear in court, and the seized goods will be forfeited to the state as per existing laws. The Commissioner stressed that street trading is still prohibited in Lagos.

“Street trading remains illegal in Lagos, and we will continue to enforce the law firmly and fairly to keep our roads safe, orderly, and free for all road users,” Wahab added.

Authorities have urged residents and traders to comply with regulations to ensure safer and more accessible roads for everyone.
