The Kogi State Government has temporarily closed selected markets and motor parks in parts of the state, particularly in Kogi West Senatorial District, as part of ongoing security operations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, advised residents to comply with the directive, stating it is in support of operations being undertaken in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and other security agencies.

According to a statement on Sunday by ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, Police Public Relations Officer, “The temporary shutdown affects selected markets and motor parks in parts of Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, Kogi, and Mopamuro Local Government Areas, as earlier announced by the State Government.”

Residents, traders, and transport operators in the affected areas are urged to adhere strictly to the directive for the duration of the operations.

“The public is advised to plan their activities accordingly, as compliance will be closely monitored,” ASP Afusat said.

The Kogi State Police Command assures the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property and encourages residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency control room numbers: 0703 832 9084 and 0815 219 5982.

“The Kogi State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, reiterates its commitment to sustaining peace and security across the State and calls for continued cooperation from members of the public,” ASP Afusat stated.
