Days after dissolving his cabinet, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state, has made fresh appointments.
Governor Fubara appointed Dagogo Wokoma as secretary to the state government (SSG) and Sunny Ewule as chief of staff (CoS), according to a statement by Onwuka Nzeshi, chief press secretary to the governor on Thursday.
The appointments take effect immediately, with Wokoma and Ewule set to be sworn in at 2pm today (Thursday) at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.
Nzeshi had earlier announced on February 12 that Fubara had dissolved the cabinet, instructing commissioners and special advisers to handover to permanent secretaries or the most senior officials in their ministries.
The governor thanked the outgone members of the executive council for their service to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.
The development comes days after President Bola Tinubu brokered peace between the governor and the Rivers state house of assembly, following months of political tension, impeachment threats, and division in parliament.
Majority of the Rivers house of assembly members, who are allies of Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), had in January re-ignited impeachment proceedings against Fubara and Ngozi Odu, his deputy.
But the lawmakers later suspended the impeachment process after Tinubu met with Fubara and Wike on February 9 at the presidential villa over the lingering political crisis in Rivers.
