The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of kidnapping a four-year-old child in the Numan Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated in a press release on Friday that the boy’s father, Umar Ibrahim of Ngballang village in Numan Local Government, had reported the abduction to the police on March 2, 2026.

According to the statement, “On the 2nd March 2026, one Umar Ibrahim of Ngballang, Numan LGA, reported at the Police Station in Numan that on the 1st March, 2026, his four-year-old son, by name Ramadan, went out to play but did not return home. All efforts by the family to locate the child initially proved unsuccessful.

“Some days later, the complainant received a call from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped and demanded a ransom of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (₦800,000).”

According to the statement, operatives from the Numan Division of the Command conducted investigations that led to the arrest of two suspects, Sadiq Ali (19) and Shitu Umar (23), both residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area, in connection with the abduction.

During interrogation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to committing what the police described as organised crime.

The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has been directed to take over the case for discreet investigation and further necessary action.

The Adamawa State Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
