MAPOLY alumni body holds training for officers

The Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, Dr. Adekoyejo Jolaoso, has been announced as the keynote speaker for the inaugural Officers’ Training School organised by the Lagos chapter of the MAPOLY Alumni Association.
The training, designed for the newly-elected officers of MAPALUM, Lagos chapter, will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, under the theme: ‘Becoming Purpose-driven Alumni.’
A statement by the Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the association, Mr. Gafar Odubote, explained that Jolaoso was strategically selected to deliver the keynote address titled: ‘Building a Purpose-driven Alumni and Achieving Synergy with the Institution’, adding that the rector’s renowned expertise in human management and leadership made him an ideal speaker at the event.
According to Odubote, the one-day training aims to foster transformative leadership, deepen strategic alumni engagement, and equip newly-elected officers with the vision, tools, and frameworks necessary for intentional and empathetic leadership aligned with institutional goals.
“This training is a call to purpose – a reminder that intentional leadership must be anchored on clarity and strategy. Our alumni body thrives on the strength of its leadership’s vision. The Officers’ Training School creates a shared understanding of roles, responsibilities, and expectations, laying the foundation for an impactful and inclusive alumni association,” Odubote said.
The training will also feature seasoned facilitators and thought leaders in interactive sessions on leadership, strategy, alumni development, and institutional synergy. Distinguished speakers include Mr. Ezekiel Obasanya, National President of MAPOLY Alumni Association; Mr. Olalekan Otun, Executive Director of Minds & Brain Limited; Mr. Adebola Fashina, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, National Quality Control; and Mr. Ganiyu Olowu, Lead Consultant of GO Media Ideaz; while past chairmen of the chapter will also share their experiences.
The Event Committee Lead and Vice Chairman of MAPALUM Lagos Chapter, Miss Fadeke Omo-Omorodion, emphasized the significance of the Officers’ Training School as a foundational step towards achieving the chapter’s leadership goals.
“This training is more than a formality; it is the cornerstone upon which excellence will be built. It aligns us with a shared vision and provides the leadership toolkit required to transition ideas into actionable strategies,” Omo-Omorodion stated.
The OTS forms part of the chapter’s strategic message framework, which focuses on members’ empowerment, sustainable structure, alumni growth, and engagement.
