Respect Osun voters’ will, Adeleke campaign team warns APC

The Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation has cautioned key figures in the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including former governor Gboyega Oyetola and party stalwart Bola Oyebamiji, to respect the will of the electorate ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Osogbo, the campaign organisation alleged that it had uncovered plans by some APC leaders to instigate unrest in the aftermath of the election if Governor Ademola Adeleke secures re-election.

According to the statement, the alleged plot was revealed through a leaked conversation purportedly involving top members of the Osun APC, in which concerns were raised over the party’s chances in the forthcoming poll.

The campaign claimed that the discussion reflected what it described as “electoral frustration” among APC leaders, asserting that even within the opposition camp there is an acknowledgment of Adeleke’s widespread popularity and projected victory margin.

“We acknowledge the electoral frustration of the Marine minister, Gboyega Oyetola, Bola Oyebamiji and the Osun APC leadership. The leaked conversation confirmed acknowledgment by Osun APC top echelon that Governor Adeleke is set to win the August 15 election by over 200,000 vote margin,” the statement said.

While criticizing what it termed desperation within the APC, the organisation urged its opponents to accept the anticipated outcome of the election in good faith rather than resorting to actions that could undermine democratic stability in the state.

The statement further admonished Oyetola and Oyebamiji to defer their political ambitions, suggesting they wait until the 2030 election cycle to make another bid for power.

It also dismissed alleged plans to manipulate electoral processes, warning that such strategies would not succeed under current conditions. The campaign insisted that mechanisms were in place to ensure a level playing field and credible polls.

“Seeking to manipulate electoral officials and plotting to announce fake results are failed tactics before they start. A level playing field will be enforced and free and fair elections will hold in Osun whether Mr Oyetola likes it or not,” the organisation stated.

Raising the tone of its warning, the campaign cautioned against any attempt to trigger violence or chaos after the election, stressing that the electorate would resist any effort to subvert their mandate.

“We warn anybody or group of people attempting to create chaos after Governor Adeleke is re-elected, that mass revolt awaits them from the electorate. Osun people will not only vote but will also protect the integrity and sanctity of their votes,” it added.

The organisation concluded by calling on residents of Osun State to remain vigilant and actively participate in safeguarding the democratic process, urging them to mobilise across polling units, wards, and local government areas to defend their voting rights.
