Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, is set to deliver the 2026 edition of the annual Afe Babalola Distinguished Personality Lecture at Afe Babalola University (ABUAD).

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, the lecture is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the 10,000-seater Alfa Belgore Multi-Purpose Hall within the university campus.

The lecture, themed “Building Legacies: The Role of Governance in Ensuring Continuity and Seamless Succession,” is expected to draw participants from across academic, political and policy-making circles, with a focus on fostering discussions around leadership sustainability and governance.

Oyebode noted that the Afe Babalola Distinguished Personality Lecture Series was instituted in 2021 by the Department of Conflict, Peace and Strategic Studies in honour of the university’s Founder and Chancellor, Afe Babalola.

He added that the initiative aims to encourage intellectual engagement on critical issues shaping leadership and development, particularly within Ekiti State and the broader Nigerian context.

“The lecture, themed ‘Building Legacies: The Role of Governance in Ensuring Continuity and Seamless Succession,’ will take place at the 10,000-seater Alfa Belgore Multi-Purpose Hall within the university campus,” the statement read.

Organisers further explained that the annual lecture series is designed to stimulate thoughtful discourse on the future of leadership, with emphasis on building enduring institutions and ensuring smooth transitions in governance.
