My peace comes before blood, Peter Okoye declares

Afrobeats star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and a former member of the defunct duo P-Square, has dismissed claims that a woman played a role in the lingering rift within the Okoye family.

In a series of posts shared via his X handle on Wednesday, the singer said the disagreement predates their marriages, describing it as a long-standing issue rooted in loyalty, trust, and the management of their music business.

Addressing narratives linking women to the dispute, he stated, “Before you drag any woman into this! No woman directed or advised anyone to steal from what I worked for over the years. Stop pushing that narrative to suit your agenda. None of us were even married 20-something years ago when this whole betrayal and stealing started! I said what I said.”

He further stressed that family ties did not prevent the alleged betrayal, writing, “We were not ‘blood’ when they were stealing from me. We were not ‘blood’ when they were creating false narratives about me.”

Mr P noted that setting firm boundaries had become necessary for his wellbeing, adding, “Even if my parents were alive and supported this kind of betrayal, I’d still choose to step back, cut them off and protect my peace. Boundaries are necessary! Blood isn’t thicker than my peace of mind.”

The artiste disclosed that investigations had uncovered alleged misconduct spanning over two decades, revealing that the matter remains in court. He urged the public to avoid pushing misleading narratives, insisting that he remains focused on moving forward.

He said, “Now that I’ve uncovered the betrayal that has been going on for over 20 years plus, suddenly we’re blood? No… it doesn’t work like that. We are still in court! Forgiveness doesn’t mean accessibility.”

Despite the situation, the singer expressed optimism about the future, noting, “Yes, it’s painful. And yes, it’s my loss. But no one should keep reminding me that I was betrayed and used by my own blood for over 20 years+. They can laugh at me now! But I’ll come out stronger.”

Meanwhile, Mr P recently announced a personal decision to shift his birthday celebration date from November 18 to November 30, stating that he will no longer observe the former date or accept gifts on it.
