The Lagos State Government has dismissed a viral message claiming new traffic diversions and enforcement actions around the Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi Road, describing it as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the government clarified that there have been no recent changes to traffic rules in the affected corridor.

The statement emphasized that existing traffic regulations around the Sheraton Link Bridge and its environs remain unchanged unless officially communicated by the state.

“The information circulating about changes and restrictions around Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi Road is false and misleading. Traffic rules in that area and its environs remain the same for now until advised otherwise by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation,” the statement read.

It also refuted allegations suggesting that task force officials were harassing or “preying on motorists,” describing such claims as untrue.

“There is nothing like that happening. Please ignore the message and rely only on official traffic information from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation. Stay safe and do not share false information,” the commissioner added.

The clarification comes in response to a viral message circulating on social media, which warned motorists of alleged new turning restrictions and aggressive enforcement by task force officials along key routes linking Sheraton Link Bridge, Opebi, Toyin Street, and adjoining corridors on the Lagos mainland.

The viral message had claimed that motorists descending the Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi should no longer turn left, but instead divert through alternative routes via Ojota-Opebi Bridge.

It also suggested that drivers from Toyin Street heading inward Opebi could no longer make direct U-turns, advising longer detours through Salvation Road or Oregun link bridge.

However, authorities have now dismissed the claims, urging motorists to disregard the message and depend solely on verified updates from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
