Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court has summoned two key witnesses to testify in the ongoing trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, over an alleged $6.23 million fraud case.

The witnesses, Jim Obazee and Police Commissioner Eloho Okpoziakpo, are expected to appear before the court on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as proceedings continue in the high-profile matter.

Emefiele is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an amended 20-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, forgery, abuse of office, and conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence.

In a subpoena dated April 27, 2026, Justice Muazu directed the witnesses to be present in court by 9:00 a.m. and to continue attending proceedings until the case is concluded.

The court also ordered the witnesses to tender evidence, including newspaper publications relating to the controversial Naira redesign policy.

According to the judge, both witnesses played roles in investigations that led to the charges against the former apex bank chief and are expected to clarify issues surrounding the implementation of the policy.

The trial is one of several legal battles facing Emefiele, with prosecutors alleging financial misconduct involving $6.23 million.
