Pantami rejects Gombe APC consensus move, vows legal battle

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has declared his opposition to any attempt to impose a consensus governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress in Gombe State, insisting he is prepared to resist what he described as injustice.

Pantami made the remarks in an interview with BBC Hausa, where he expressed confidence that he would secure the party’s governorship ticket if a direct primary election is conducted.

He maintained that party members should be allowed to freely choose their candidate through a transparent process rather than through consensus arrangements.

“I will challenge this injustice of Gombe APC governorship consensus even if I lose my life doing it. If it’s direct primary, everybody knows, we will win,” Pantami said.

The former minister also warned that he would pursue all legal means available if fairness was not upheld in the selection process.

“If there’s no justice, I will fight it legally, a fight like never seen before in Nigeria,” he added.

Pantami’s comments come amid growing discussions over succession politics and the race for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
