The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has extended the deadline for the purchase and submission of nomination forms for the 2027 general elections by one week.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos by the party’s Secretary General, Ogini Olaposi.

According to the statement, the extension was approved following a directive from the party’s Board of Trustees to the National Working Committee (NWC), and endorsed by the party’s founder, Boniface Aniebonam.

Olaposi explained that the decision became necessary due to delays in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) updating what the party described as the authentic leadership structure of the NNPP led by Agbo Gilbert Major.

He said the new deadline for the collection and submission of nomination forms is now 17 May 2026, instead of the earlier date of 10 May.

The party also reaffirmed its nomination fees, pegging presidential forms at N5 million, governorship at N2.5 million, Senate at N1.5 million, House of Representatives at N1 million, and State House of Assembly at N500,000.

Olaposi added that women and persons with disabilities are exempted from paying for nomination forms, while returning elected office holders seeking re-election will be granted automatic tickets upon purchase of forms.

He further assured aspirants that screening schedules remain unchanged despite the extension.

The NNPP urged its members and aspirants to remain calm, expressing confidence that ongoing issues involving INEC would soon be resolved. The party also directed its leadership to intensify preparations to ensure it participates in all elective positions in the 2027 polls.
