The National Youth Wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed grief over the killing of Hon. Abba Anas Adamu Laushi, describing his death as tragic and deeply disturbing.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s National Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufai, the youth wing said Laushi was abducted along the Kaduna-Abuja highway while travelling to purchase his governorship nomination form.

According to the statement, despite the payment of ransom to secure his release, the gunmen allegedly went ahead to kill the former lawmaker.

The party described the late politician as a committed leader who once represented his constituents in the House of Representatives with honour and dignity.

“Hon. Abba Anas Adamu Laushi left home with hope in his heart to answer the call of democracy, but he never returned alive,” the statement read.

The ADC youth wing said the incident highlights the worsening security situation in the country, lamenting that citizens can no longer travel or pursue their aspirations safely.

“This tragedy is not just about Hon. Abba Anas Adamu. It is about a nation collapsing before the eyes of the world while those in power continue with speeches and propaganda,” the statement added.

The group further alleged that insecurity had become widespread under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling for urgent action to protect lives and restore public confidence.

It also extended condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Birniwa, Guri and Kirikasamma, as well as members of the ADC across the country.

The statement concluded with prayers for the repose of the late politician and for peace and security to return to Nigeria.
