Former Minister of Aviation and ambassador-designate to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode has thrown his support behind the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, for the governorship seat in Bauchi.
Fani-Kayode made the endorsement in a post on social media on Wednesday, where he praised Tuggar’s educational background, public service record and leadership qualities.
“Yusuf Tuggar, our former Ambassador to Germany and a former member of the House of Representatives, is one of the best educated, most decent and most civilised leaders that we have in Nigeria,” he wrote.
He also described Tuggar as a loyal ally and committed member of the All Progressives Congress.
“Outside of that he is also a loyal friend and a committed and outstanding member of our party,” he stated.
Fani-Kayode said he had known Tuggar for more than four decades and could personally attest to his character and competence.
“He is not only utterly brilliant but he is also an absolute gentleman with an outstanding record in public office. I have known him for over 40 years and I can testify to this,” he said.
The former minister added that he was proud to endorse Tuggar’s ambition to lead Bauchi State, expressing confidence in his ability to govern effectively.
“It is therefore with great pride that I endorse and support his bid to become the Governor of Bauchi State. He will make a great Governor and I wish him the very best in the upcoming primaries and, God willing, in the Governorship election itself,” he wrote.
He concluded by saying Bauchi deserved quality leadership and described Tuggar as the best candidate for the job.
“Bauchi deserves the best and he is undoubtedly the best,” Fani-Kayode added.
