INEC receives PDP’s Anambra gov nomination submission form Signed by Wike’s man, Anyanwu

Ezekiel Awojide, Abuja

Senator Samuel Anyanwu has signed the official letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission that contained the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2025 Anambra election.

This may have confirmed his position as the authentic party’s National Secretary.

Anyanwu is an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike.

The former governor of Rivers State is a major player in the crisis rocking the party.

The letter, dated May 7, 2025, and addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, was co-signed by the PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum.

With the letter, the party formally submitted Ezenwafor Jude as the party’s candidate and Okeke Francis Chukwudi as his running mate for the November 8, 2025 governorship poll.

Despite recent reports that PDP governors had named a new acting secretary, this submission, endorsed by both the chairman and Senator Anyanwu, signals that the party’s National Working Committee still recognises Anyanwu as the party’s legitimate National Secretary.

Observers say this action may be the party’s calculated attempt to avoid internal legal disputes or disqualification issues ahead of the critical Anambra election.

Mr Setonji Koshoedo, who was appointed as the party’s acting National Secretary by the governors, had on May 5 met with PDP staff.
