Veteran actress, Ego Boyo has stated that rumours that she was banned from acting by her husband is false.
The producer revealed her reason for exiting the screen, saying she chose film production over acting.
Speaking with Chude Jideonwo, Boyo declared that she found acting unfulfilling and preferred the creative control and challenges that came with producing.
The celebrated actress said, “I left acting when I found out that I enjoyed producing more than acting. It was boring. The blogs wanted it to be something like my husband banned me from it, they wanted it to be sensational and it was not.”
Ego’s assertion puts to rest the narrative that her husband had a hand in her decision to quit acting.
With a career spanning decades, she said it was her own desire to explore other aspects of the industry that led her to shift her focus.
