Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade has disclosed that the team is yet to receive the $100,000 pledge of President Bola Tinubu for their victory at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking to Chude during an interview, the superstar expressed hope that the payment would be made soon.
She disclosed that as soon as the money is paid, the Super Falcons players would inform the public.
She said, “We haven’t received the $100,000 promised by the government. Even our March bonuses is still a work in progress. But hopefully they’ll pay it soon. As soon as it’s being paid, you’ll see it.”
The outstanding payment, intended to reward the Super Falcons for their outstanding performance, has become a flashpoint in the ongoing conversation about equal recognition for Nigerian women in sports.
