Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, on Wednesday clarified his earlier statement describing Lagos as a “no-man’s land.”
Bwala, in a post he shared on X, explained that his comments were misinterpreted and emphasised that Lagos’ unique cultural, historical, and constitutional identity as a Yoruba homeland is undisputed.
In the statement, Bwala highlighted Lagos’ significance as Nigeria’s commercial nerve center, drawing comparisons to global cities like New York, Paris, and London, noting that Lagos provides opportunities for Nigerians from all backgrounds to thrive, making it a microcosm of the nation’s diversity.
Bwala’s argument centered on the need for substantial investments in infrastructure to support Lagos’ economic and social responsibilities, which he believes are crucial to Nigeria’s development.
He emphasised that any president seeking success must prioritise support for Lagos, not because it’s a “no-man’s land,” but because it’s the heartbeat of the nation’s economy.
