The Accord has approved the constitution of a caretaker committee for its Osun chapter, with Pastor Victor Akande emerging as chairman.
This is contained in a communiqué issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorugbe, after its National Executive Committee (NEC) on
The constitution of the caretaker committee was a sequel to the expiration of the tenure of its current leadership.
Gov. Ademola Adeleke is being reported to be eyeing Accord to contest the 2026 governorship election on its platform, following his recent resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The communique said that NEC also approved the electoral guidelines for the forthcoming Osun governorship primaries.
The party also announced the constitution of the Electoral Committee for the 2026 governorship primaries in Osun, expressing confidence that it would win the election.
“The NEC approved a general waiver for numerous Nigerians who recently joined our great party, Accord, and desire to contest elections on its platform.
“NEC approved the constitution of Women and Youth Directorates at National, Zonal, State, Local Government, Ward and Polling Unit levels of the party to facilitate membership drive and grassroots mobilisation of citizens across the country,” it said.
The party added that it had lifted the suspension of some members in Osun in the spirit of its motto: “Oneness and Progress”, as it prepares for the governorship election in the state.
It equally passed a vote of confidence in Maxwell Mgbudem as its National Chairman of the party, while urging members to remain focused, loyal, and patriotic, and not be distracted by the activities of ‘reactionary forces’.
Earlier in his remarks, the national chairman said that the party had no faction anywhere, either at the national or state level.
According to him, Accord remains one united, indivisible family, firmly guided by its ideology of oneness and progress.
“We will continue to maintain this unity with vigilance and firmness. Our commitment to transparency and internal democracy was evident in the smooth conduct of the Edo and Ondo primary elections,” he said.
Mgbudem said that even in instances where tensions emerged, citing the “temporary misunderstanding” in Edo, the party leadership would intervene promptly and effectively.
He said that the leadership had restored complete harmony and reaffirmed the Accord’s reputation as a party that stands for justice, reconciliation, and fairness.
He added that the legitimacy and authenticity of the leadership and internal processes had been strengthened through judicial victories.
Mgbudem expressed the party’s preparations towards the 2026 FCT elections, especially its AMAC chairmanship candidate who, he said, had demonstrated admirable capacity and commitment.
He, however, warned against utterances that could undermine the unity of the party.
“The task ahead is enormous as we approach the decisive 2026 FCT council elections, the Ekiti and Osun state governorship polls, and the 2027 general elections.
“Let me also sound a clear note of caution: Accord will not tolerate any individual whose actions or utterances seek to undermine the harmony, stability, and unity of the party.
“Discipline remains a core value of our political family and we will apply it firmly, whenever necessary, to preserve the integrity of our collective mandate,” he said. accord
