The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has slammed President Bola Tinubu for what it described as an “abuse of Naira”.
The party, through its spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, was reacting to the cash rewards given to Nigeria’s national female football team, the Super Falcons, and the basketball team, D’Tigress, for their recent international victories.
Reacting to the decision of the president, Abdullahi wondered why the president of a sovereign country would announce a national gift in another currency.
While appreciating Tinubu for the reward, ADC maintained that, “But we find it strange that the President has repeatedly shown his disregard for the Nigerian sovereign currency by announcing the awards in US Dollars. Mr. President sir, NOA says, Stop the Naira Abuse.”
