The Federal Government has announced plans to make Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall also known as Kwam 1 the ambassador for proper airport security protocol.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo in a statement on Wednesday, gave an update on the resolutions to recent cases of unruly behaviour at Nigerian airports.

While the minister maintained that all parties in the recent airport dramas were wrong, he noted that they all are highlighting the injury or injustice done to them without acknowledging their own equal culpability.

On the decision reached after several consultations, ‎Keyamo said the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had agreed to reduce KWAM 1’s flight ban to one month and would work with the musician to promote awareness on acceptable conduct within the aviation space.

He said, “In the case of KWAM 1, the NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward.

“Having publicly demonstrated penitence, the NCAA is also to withdraw its criminal complaints against KWAM 1 earlier lodged with the Police.”

He also announced that the licenses of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba, staff of VALUEJET would be restored after a month ban.

Keyamo added that he directed all relevant Aviation agencies in collaboration with other complementary agencies outside aviation to begin a retreat next week to properly retrain security personnel in airports on how to deal with errant passengers.
