The governor disclosed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, highlighting the importance of the initiative in strengthening the state’s capacity in agriculture, science, and technology.

According to Aiyedatiwa, the report reflects a high level of planning and preparedness, spanning the academic brief, master plan, and sustainability framework.

“This is a strategic move to position Ondo State at the forefront of national development in agriculture, science, and technology. The depth of work presented shows clear vision, diligence, and readiness,” he stated, while expressing satisfaction with the quality of the proposal.

The governor further noted that the involvement of seasoned experts in the development of the report gives him confidence in the viability of the proposed institution.

“I am particularly encouraged by the calibre of experts behind this report. It reinforces my confidence that this proposed university can stand among the very best in Nigeria,” he added.

Aiyedatiwa emphasised that his administration remains focused on leveraging innovation to drive economic growth, especially through agriculture.

“Our focus remains clear: leveraging science, technology, and innovation to drive agricultural productivity, rural development, and economic growth,” he said, adding that integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence would be critical to achieving food security and wealth creation.

On the transition process, the governor assured stakeholders that measures would be put in place to protect students and ensure a seamless upgrade.

“As we move forward, we will ensure a smooth and well-managed transition that protects the academic progress of current students while laying a solid foundation for a globally competitive institution,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering the project successfully, noting that the proposed university would set a new benchmark for higher education in Ondo State and contribute meaningfully to long-term development.
