A 13-year-old Nigerian teenager, Anu Adeleke, has publicly requested a DNA test from renowned singer David Adeleke, known otherwise as Davido, claiming he is her father, in a heartfelt letter shared on social media.
In the emotional post made on Thursday, Anu opened up about the years of bullying and mental anguish she endured due to her uncertain paternity.
Raised by her mother and grandmother, Anu revealed she was constantly mocked by classmates when she claimed Davido was her father, leading to emotional distress and counseling.
“It was a sad challenging time in my life, I went through a lot of mental anguish and visited a medical professional to protect my mental health,” Anu wrote.
Despite the challenges, Anu excelled academically, becoming class prefect and consistently making the top of her class. She shared some of her report cards on social media to showcase her achievements.
Now, as she transitions into a young woman, Anu seeks to establish her identity and has asked Davido to undergo a DNA test.
“I want to establish my identity. This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want. It is something that’s the right thing to do,” she wrote.
Anu’s mother had previously claimed Davido was the father, and Anu is urging him to consider her request.
“Please sir, consider my request once you read this post. I also sent it to your DM,” she added.
The post has garnered an outpouring of emotional support from Nigerians, who are backing her quest for clarity on her paternity. Many have taken to social media to express their support for Anu, praising her bravery and academic achievements.
