Social commentator, Reno Omokri, reacting to his recent ambassadorial nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described the Nigerian leader as a paragon of forgiveness and patriotism, likening him to Christ in an emotional acceptance speech.

Before, the former presidential aide was a vocal critic and staunch antagonist of President Tinubu, but he has since shifted allegiance, now publicly professing admiration for the president whose forgiveness and leadership he previously opposed.

In a post on his social media on Sunday, Omokri expressed profound gratitude for the nomination, saying, “I thank God Almighty for this nomination and look forward to serving my fatherland and humanity.”

Addressing President Tinubu directly, he stated, “The President has taught me the meaning of forgiveness and has helped me better understand what patriotism entails. In short, Christlikeness is demonstrated in him. He is the right man, at the right time, for the right job, and deserves the right hand of fellowship from all Nigerians.”

Omokri extended his appreciation to family members, notably his parents, Esijolomi and Omerewumi, crediting them for shaping his life.

He also lauded Malam Nuhu Ribadu, asserting, “If it were possible for all the goodness on Earth to be domiciled in a single human being, that person would be Malam.”

The ambassadorial nominee reserved special thanks for his wife, Hana, acknowledging her steadfast support through challenging times, “Enemies of the President made me their foe for three years because of my loyalty to him and Nigeria – she was my pillar.”

Concluding his speech, Omokri invoked blessings on President Tinubu, praying that “may Nigeria prosper as an indivisible entity with peace, prosperity, and progress”.
