The Anambra State Government has taken decisive action against eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit over the brutal assault and public stripping of a female corps member, Miss Jennifer Elobor.

The operatives were dismissed and will face prosecution for their actions.

According to Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, who spoke at the agency’s headquarters in Awka on Wednesday, the government acted swiftly after receiving reports of the incident.

The operatives were allegedly pursuing suspected cultists when they attacked the corps member, an action described as “totally outside the mandate of the agency and utterly condemnable.”

The state government disclosed that it has settled the victim’s medical bills and replaced her damaged valuables, including a laptop and phone.

He said, “A public apology has also been tendered to the victim’s family, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and the general public.”

Emeakayi continued, “The Soludo administration will not tolerate any form of unprofessionalism, brutality or abuse of office by security operatives. Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution.”

The government emphasized its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights in all security engagements. The incident is expected to serve as a turning point in reforming the security outfit and restoring public confidence.
