The Atiku Media Office has announced the passing away of Mr Ifeanyi Izeze, a prominent and pioneer member of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media team, who succumbed to an undisclosed illness.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Atiku Media Office described Izeze as a seasoned journalist and media expert who brought a wealth of experience to the team when he joined in 2006 from Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), Ikot-Abasi, as the Office Manager.
A trained geologist with a postgraduate degree from the University of Port Harcourt, Izeze had carved a niche in journalism, reporting and writing extensively on Nigeria’s oil and gas industry for several publications, including the defunct Sunray, Anchor, and NewAge newspapers.
As a senior member of Atiku’s media team, Izeze played a pivotal role in shaping the campaign policies of Atiku’s presidential campaigns in the Niger Delta, leveraging his expertise in the oil and gas sectors.
The statement described Izeze as a man with a prodigious sense of humour and a born-again Christian, who was an ordained preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.
The Atiku Media Office condoled with Izeze’s family, friends, and colleagues, praying that God grant them the fortitude to bear his demise.
Further details about his burial arrangements will be made public by his family.
Izeze leaves behind children, grandchildren, and an elder brother, Pastor Emeka Izeze of the Guardian Newspapers.
The statement concluded with the prayer that God grant Izeze’s soul an eternal rest and forgive him his sins.
