Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the recent Boko Haram attack on Darajamal, Borno State, which resulted in the deaths of over 60 people, including soldiers and civilians.

In a statement he posted on X on Sunday, Atiku described the incident as “senseless violence” and a “painful reminder of the heavy toll Nigerians continue to bear in the fight against terrorism”.

He condoled with the families of the victims, the people of Borno, and Governor Babagana Zulum, commending the governor’s swift response in visiting the affected community.

Atiku emphasised the need for national unity and renewed commitment to defeating terrorism, urging Nigerians to rise above divisions and confront insecurity with unity and renewed determination.

He prayed for “Almighty Allah to grant the departed Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort their loved ones”.

The attack on Darajamal is the latest in a series of renewed attacks in Borno State, despite military efforts to secure liberated areas. The incident has reignited calls for improved intelligence, better troop support, and stronger collaboration between security agencies and local communities to prevent further bloodshed.
