Atiku slams Tinubu’s govt over rising killings in North Central

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the Tinubu administration for the resurgence of killings in the North-Central region, saying the government has abandoned the area to bloodshed.

In a statement released by the Atiku Media Office and signed by the former presidential candidate, he noted that Kwara, once considered safe, has become a hotspot for bandit and kidnap attacks, while Niger State has witnessed militant attacks on military bases, resulting in the deaths of soldiers and worshippers.

“The silence of the APC leadership is proof of complicity,” Atiku said, adding that the ruling party is using thugs and hooligans to disrupt opposition meetings.

Atiku warned that “violence is a vicious circle that will eventually consume those who use it. Any politician who needs violence to win is desperate, unpopular, and dangerous to democracy,” and reminded the Nigeria Police of their duty to remain neutral and constitutional.

As of May this year, over 10,000 lives had been lost in Northern states, with Benue accounting for more than half, according to Atiku.
