Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed his deep sadness over the recent road accident involving British-Nigerian professional boxer Anthony Joshua in Makun, Ogun State.
In a statement released on his official social media handle on Monday, Atiku conveyed his solidarity with Joshua, describing him as “a symbol of strength and resilience” and praying for his swift and complete recovery.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the road accident involving @anthonyjoshua today in Makun, Ogun State,” Atiku said. “I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery.”
Atiku also extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who lost their lives in the accident, saying, “May their souls rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and strength in this time of sorrow.”
The former vice president expressed confidence that Joshua, known for his determination and grit, will overcome the challenges posed by the accident.
Anthony Joshua, a two-time former unified heavyweight champion of the world, was involved in a car accident on Sunday evening in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of two people.
Earlier, the vehicle carrying Joshua reportedly collided with another car under circumstances that are still being investigated.
An eyewitness who was also part of the rescue mission, said Joshua sustained minor injuries, saying that two people died on the spot.
