Bandits kidnap several in Kogi hotel attack

Panic gripped residents of Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State on Saturday night, March 7, 2026, following a bandit attack that reportedly led to the kidnapping of an unconfirmed number of people.

According to preliminary reports from local sources, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. near Path Way Hotel, along the Government Secondary School axis in Egbe.

Residents in the area said gunmen believed to be armed bandits stormed the vicinity, causing chaos and fear among people nearby.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of victims abducted remains unclear. Security agencies and community sources are yet to confirm the identities or number of those taken.

A disturbing detail from the scene revealed that a towel believed to belong to one of the victims was later discovered in the nearby bush, suggesting that the victims may have been forced through the surrounding area during the attack.

The incident adds to the growing wave of insecurity recently reported across communities in Yagba West, raising renewed concerns among residents, farmers, and travelers within the region.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate security agencies.
