Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has criticised Abia State Governor Alex Otti for meeting President Bola Tinubu over the case of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ahmad reminded Otti that Tinubu isn’t a law court or judiciary, emphasising that justice can’t be negotiated behind closed doors.

In a post via X on Thursday, Ahmad wrote, “President Tinubu is not a court of law and certainly not the judiciary. The best assistance Gov.

“Otti can offer his convicted brother is to advise him to remain a law-abiding prisoner for now and seek redress through the proper legal channels.

“If there are grounds for appeal, let it be taken to the upper courts. Nigeria is governed by law. Justice is not negotiated in private meetings, nor reversed by presidential courtesy.

“The courtroom remains the only place where convictions are tested and overturned.”

On Wednesday, Otti had visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja over Kanu’s life imprisonment sentence.

Kanu is currently serving his term in Sokoto Custodial Centre after he was convicted by Justice James Omotosho of Abuja Federal High Court.
