Bauchi man arrested for sodomy, abusing minor

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested a 48-year-old man, Bala Mato, on allegations of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in Burra, Ningi Local Government Area.

The incident was reported on February 25, 2026, by Danalami Umar, a resident of Bakin Kasuwa, Burra, stating that the victim was allegedly lured into a room by the suspect on February 17 at about 8 pm, where the offence occurred.

In a statement posted on the command’s Facebook page on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the suspect had been arrested and the victim taken to the General Hospital, Burra, for medical examination.

Habib said, “On case of unnatural offence (sodomy). On February 25, 2026, one Danalami Umar, 45, of Bakin Kasuwa, Burra, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Burra, that on February 17 at about 2000hrs, a 15-year-old teenager was deceitfully lured by Bala Mato, 48, who allegedly committed an unnatural offence against him in a room.

“The suspect was arrested, and the victim taken to General Hospital Burra for medical examination.”

In a separate incident, police arrested a 24-year-old security guard with Al-Ansar Security Limited, Kamaluddeen Aliyu, over the alleged rape of two minors aged four and five.

The case was reported on February 23 at the ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters by the children’s mother, who alleged that the suspect lured the victims into a security room at Tsohon Company, where he had unlawful carnal knowledge of them on different occasions.

Police said both the victims and the suspect were taken to the police clinic for medical examination, while the Commissioner of Police ordered the case transferred to the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the command also arrested a suspect over alleged fraud and criminal intimidation involving ₦3 million.

Emmanuel Christopher of Dawaki District, Abuja, told police that two suspects — Aliyu Yahaya, 23, and another identified as Abdullahi, who is currently at large — allegedly collected the money from him under the pretext of negotiating dollars and later threatened him with knives.

“The DPO led detectives to the scene, arrested Aliyu Yahaya, while Abdullahi fled. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect, recover the money, and charge them to court,” the statement added.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani‑Omolori Aliyu, assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property and warned criminal elements to desist from illegal activities.
