Benue Speaker Aondona Dajoh resigns

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, on Sunday resigned from the position.

The development was conveyed to his colleagues in a handwritten letter dated August 24, 2025 where he disclosed that the decision was taken “in good faith and in the best interest of the state”.

While also sharing the development on his Facebook page, Dajoh captioned the post, “Let there be peace”.

He thanked his colleagues for giving him the opportunity to serve as “the first among equals” and pledged to remain dedicated to his legislative duties and the representation of his constituency, Gboko West State Constituency.

Details about who will replace Dajoh had not been released at the time of filing this report.

The House is expected to follow its standing orders to fill the vacancy and name a new speaker in line with legislative procedure.
