The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has said that the life of the late former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, was defined by duty, discipline, and a remarkable consistency of purpose.
She explained that Buhari’s unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project, despite personal and political setbacks, stands as a lasting testament to his resilience and belief in the nation’s potential.
Reacting to the death of the former president in a condolence on Monday, the CJN disclosed that in a time of shifting values, Buhari’s example reminded Nigerians of the importance of perseverance, principles, and public service.
The statement, personally signed by the CJN, said she received the news of the former President’s passing with sadness, but with gratitude to God for a life well-lived by the deceased.
The statement read,
“I commiserate with his immediate family, the government and people of Katsina State and, indeed all Nigerians, on the loss of a statesman who served his country, first as military Head of State and later as a democratically elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“President Buhari’s life was defined by duty, discipline, and a remarkable consistency of purpose.
“His unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project, despite personal and political setbacks, stands as a lasting testament to his resilience and belief in the nation’s potential.
“In a time of shifting values, his example reminds us of the importance of perseverance, principles, and public service.
“I urge all Nigerians to reflect on his legacy and draw inspiration from his dedication to national development”.
The CJN prayed for the repose of the soul of the former Nigerian leader who will be buried in his Daura ancestral home on Tuesday in line with Islamic injunctions.
