The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Commission’s management, indicating that the breach affected only limited components of its digital infrastructure.
According to the statement, the Commission swiftly activated its internal response mechanisms and is currently collaborating with the National Information Technology Development Agency, alongside other relevant government agencies and partners, to determine the scope and potential impact of the incident.
The Commission stated, “The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is currently reviewing a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to limited aspects of its information systems. The Commission promptly activated its response protocols and is working with NITDA, relevant government agencies and partners to assess the scope and impact.”
It added that appropriate containment measures had already been implemented, while additional safeguards were being deployed to strengthen system security and prevent further vulnerabilities.
As part of precautionary steps, the Commission advised stakeholders to remain vigilant by regularly monitoring their records on the CAC portal, updating their login credentials, and exercising caution when dealing with unsolicited messages or communications.
The statement emphasised the Commission’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of Nigeria’s corporate registry, noting that further updates would be communicated as investigations progress.
The CAC reassured the public that it remains focused on safeguarding its digital systems and ensuring continued confidence in its services despite the ongoing review.
