Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has revealed the only Southerner he believes can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
In a post made on Facebook on Thursday, Adeyanju advised members of the coalition under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to give their presidential candidate to Former President Goodluck Jonathan, known otherwise as GEJ.
Adeyanju warned the coalition not to allow the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi to clinch the party ticket.
Adeyanju suggested that the former Anambra governor should be the vice presidential candidate to a young Northerner.
He wrote, “The coalition best ticket in my view is maybe GEJ/Kwankwaso or if they want to go north, a young northerner/Obi but no southern candidate can defeat Tinubu except GEJ. And Atiku is too old, he won’t excite young voters. Opposition needs to excite young voters.”
Earlier, Obi confirmed he will run for president in 2027, dismissing speculation that he may become the running mate to Atiku.
“I’m going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe I am qualified for it,” Obi said.
