Dangote Refinery suspends sales to unregistered marketers

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has suspended self-collection gantry sales of petroleum products at its facility with effect from Thursday, September 18, 2025.

This suspension was contained in a mail sent to journalists on Friday, which was signed by the Group Commercial Operations Department of the company.

Dangote Refinery also instructed marketing partners to halt all payments related to active Product Fulfillment Instructions (PFIs) for self-collection.

It warned that any payments made after September 18 will not be accepted.

The company explained that the directive aims to promote wider adoption of the refinery’s free delivery scheme for retail outlets and to halt sales to unregistered marketers, whether they buy directly from its depot or indirectly through other marketers.

The mail reads, “We wish to inform you that, effective 18th September 2025, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has placed all self-collection gantry sales on hold until further notice

“In light of this development, we kindly request that all payments related to active PFIs for self-collection are also placed on hold until further notice. Please note that any payment made after this date will not be honoured.”

The refinery urged all active and new customers to register for its Free Delivery Scheme, which guarantees direct shipments to retail outlets and remains fully operational.

“We encourage all active and newly onboarded customers to register for the DPRP Free Delivery Scheme, which remains fully operational and offers a seamless delivery experience to your station.”

The company apologised for any inconvenience the decision might cause, adding, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we implement this operational adjustment.”

The directive follows the oil firm’s recent face-off with the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers of Nigeria and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG.

Recall that last week Thursday, Dangote Refinery had announced a gantry price of N820 per litre as it began its fuel distribution scheme nationwide.

DAPPMAN, NUPENG and other stakeholders had kicked against the initiative, describing it as monopolistic.

Meanwhile, Dangote Refinery had dismissed DAPPMAN’s claim, alleging the association demanded a N1.5 trillion fuel subsidy. The refinery allegation had been refuted by DAPPMAN, saying that the oil firm favours foreign offtakers of its petrol products, neglecting Nigerian marketers.
