The Nigerian Army has announced that the Honourable Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa (rtd), alongside the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, conducted an operational visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri.

They reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to defeating terrorism in the North-East.

The visit, which took place on March 31, 2026, was aimed at assessing ongoing military operations, boosting troop morale, and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders in the region.

It began with a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno at his palace, where the ministers commended the traditional institution for its continued support to counter-insurgency efforts.

They also praised the resilience of residents of the North-East and reassured them of sustained federal backing in restoring peace and stability.

The defence delegation later proceeded to the Borno State Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor on behalf of the state governor.

During the meeting, appreciation was expressed for the sacrifices of troops and the Federal Government’s interventions in the region.

In response, the ministers reiterated Abuja’s resolve to sustain military offensives and deepen cooperation with the state government to improve security.

In a solemn moment, the ministers visited the Military Cemetery in Maiduguri, where they laid wreaths in honour of fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the fight against insurgency.

The tribute, according to officials, underscored the nation’s enduring gratitude and commitment to preserving the legacy of its fallen heroes.

At the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI, the Theatre Commander, Abdulsalam Abubakar, presented a detailed operational briefing, highlighting recent gains recorded by troops.

He disclosed that over 280 террорист elements were neutralised during the Ramadan period through sustained offensive and defensive operations.

He added that troops had also disrupted террорист logistics networks and successfully rescued abducted civilians, while outlining future strategies to consolidate the gains.

Speaking to journalists, the Defence Minister commended the Armed Forces for what he described as significant progress in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.

He attributed the успех to improved coordination, professionalism, and resilience among troops, stressing the importance of continued national support for the military.

Musa further reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to decisively tackle insecurity and restore lasting peace across the country.

The visit also featured the inspection of a newly constructed Military Command and Control Centre, designed to enhance intelligence gathering, operational coordination, and real-time decision-making within the theatre.

In addition, the ministers commissioned newly built family accommodation for troops, an initiative aimed at improving welfare and boosting morale among personnel.
