Former Senator Shehu Sani has told the United States Government not to impose Venezuelan deportees on Nigeria.
In an interview on Channels TV on Friday, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar revealed the effort of the US government to coerce the Federal Government of Nigeria and other African countries to accept Venezuelan deportees.
In a post he made on his official X account on Friday, the former representative of the Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly warned the Nigerian government not to accept the move by the US.
He urged the FG not to create space for the prisoners either now or in the future, adding that the US is free to send Nigerian prisoners in the country back home, but not Venezuelan nationals.
He wrote, “If the US wants to send Nigerian prisoners in US Jails back to Nigeria, that is ok and should be accepted.
“We don’t want Venezuelan prisoners in our country and there should be no space for them now or in the future.”
