E-registration is mandatory for members — Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emphasized that its ongoing electronic registration exercise is compulsory for all members, stressing that it’s a crucial step towards enhancing the party’s internal democracy, organizational structure, and readiness for upcoming elections.

Party spokesperson Mogaji Seye Oladejo announced in a Tuesday statement that the e-registration drive, launched on Sunday, will continue until January’s end, providing ample opportunity for current and aspiring members to join a centralized digital database.

According to him, the initiative is designed to eliminate irregularities associated with manual membership records, including duplication, impersonation, and what he described as “shadow membership arrangements.”

“The e-registration exercise is not optional, cosmetic, or expendable,” the statement said, adding that it reflects the APC’s commitment to order, transparency, and credible internal processes in line with modern political standards.

Oladejo further stated that a verified digital register will level the playing field for members, cut out gatekeeping, and ensure party participation aligns with the constitution, not personal whims.

He further noted that credible congresses, transparent primaries, and legitimate leadership selection depend on the existence of an accurate and reliable membership register, warning that resistance to the exercise could undermine internal cohesion.

Beyond internal administration, Oladejo described the e-registration as a strategic tool for mobilisation, particularly among youths, professionals, and first-time participants who expect efficiency and clarity in political engagement.

He also said a data-driven membership system would enhance grassroots coordination, campaign planning, and voter outreach, arguing that a party with accurate knowledge of its membership base is better positioned to compete electorally.

“The outcome of this exercise will firmly affirm the APC as the most dominant political party in Nigeria, with a verifiable structure and growing membership,” the statement said, contrasting this with what it described as the opposition’s “assumed strength.”

The Lagos APC urged all members and stakeholders to participate fully in the exercise, stressing that non-participation would amount to a disservice to the party and its progressive ideals.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to reforms and expansion, insisting that the e-registration exercise signals its determination to build what it described as a stronger, fairer, and future-ready political organisation.
